QCA

The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority is the "guardian of standards in education and training" for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. It works with government and other organisations to maintain and develop the school curriculum, the national curriculum, associated methods of assessment, and to accredit and monitor qualifications in schools, colleges and at work.

SQA
The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) is the national body in Scotland responsible for the development, accreditation, assessment, and certification of qualifications other than degrees.

The qualifications include:

Standard Grade
National Qualifications
(including revised National Units and Highers as well as new subjects at Access, Intermediate and Advanced Higher levels)
Higher National Certificates and Diplomas (HNC/HND)
Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs)
Customised Awards and Professional Development Awards.

SQA is also responsible for developing and distributing 5-14 National Tests to schools as part of the Government's 5-14 Programme.
